In the early sixties, David Holloway began using a mobile concrete plant to supply projects on site across Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The enterprise was called Quality Ready Mix Company. In 1965, they established a location outside Shepherdsville in Bullitt County, KY and began work to open a limestone quarry. Quality Crushed Stone Company began operation a year later at that location, and soon after, Quality Ready Mix went from a mobile plant to a permanent home at the same site. The location not only provided plentiful resources, it was also a natural market – most of the roads in Bullitt County were unpaved at the time, so the Bullitt County Road Department quickly became one of the biggest customers. In 1988, the companies combined to form Quality Stone & Ready Mix, Inc. with David Holloway and his four sons as owners. Today, brothers Jonathan and Richard Holloway still own and operate the business with two, third-generation family members working at the company as well.
